MISSION: Helping people find and follow Jesus.
This is why we exist. It is what many people refer to as the Great Commission.
In Jesus’ words, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you until the end of the age.” -Matthew 28:18-20
An Aircraft Carrier Kind of Church
We hear this question often: “What kind of church are you?”
Pastor J.D. Greear describes churches as three different kinds of ships. None is necessarily better than the others, but each functions very differently.
Cruise Ship
Cruise ship churches are designed around comfort and convenience. They offer Christian “luxuries” for the whole family—programs, entertainment, childcare, and engaging services. People often ask, “Does this church meet my needs? Do I like the music? Is the preaching engaging and practical? Does it help my family?”
Those things matter, but we believe God has called Restoration Christian Church to something more.
Battleship
Battleship churches are built for mission, but the mission is mostly carried out by the leaders. The pastors aim, fire, and fight, while the congregation watches and supports. Church programs and services become the primary way mission happens.
We believe God has called Restoration Christian Church to something more.
Aircraft Carrier
Aircraft carriers are also built for battle, but they fight differently. Instead of firing the weapons themselves, they equip and send others to carry the mission forward.
An aircraft carrier church trains and equips everyday believers to live out the gospel where they already are at work, at school, in their neighborhoods, and throughout our community in West Baden and the surrounding area. Members learn to share their faith, start Bible studies, serve others, and even help plant new ministries and churches where they are needed most.
Church becomes a discipleship and sending center, not just a gathering place.
Our Vision
This is how we believe God has called Restoration Christian Church to operate.
Because the Kingdom of God has come, we go to help people find and follow Christ, for God’s glory.
That means redefining success. Instead of celebrating only how many people come through our doors, we also celebrate how many people are being sent out, living on mission, serving others, and restoring lives through the power of the gospel.
That’s the kind of church we are striving to be.
